AGRICULTURAL
DIVISION RULES
PINEY WOODS FAIR JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SHOW RULES
WHO MAY ENTER: All Junior Exhibitors must be a bonafide 4-H, FFA or FCCLA member and under the supervision of a CEA or AST. Junior Exhibitors must be enrolled in school not beyond grade 12.
OWNERSHIP: All entries must be owned by the exhibitor for at least 30 days prior to show
date, ownership for Nacogdoches Co. Market Animals are identified in each division show rules.
SHOW RULES AND REGULATIONS: All entries will
be subject to the general rules and regulations of the Junior Livestock Show. In case of a conflict the individual show rules will prevail. Failure
to comply with the rules, times or rules and regulations of each show, will result in the forfeiture of any or all premiums of
prizes won and subject to being barred from the Piney Woods Fair Shows for one (1) year. The Piney Woods Fair will not be
responsible for the loss of any animal due to sickness, injury, death or theft while at the show.
HEALTH RULES:
The standard rules of the Texas Animal Health Commission for exhibit animals
will be applied to all animals shown and must be complied with before arrival at the show. Lambs and Heifers
must have health papers with them in order to show.
ENTRIESNot over two entries per individual for any
one class will be allowed. Show cards must be placed on all Junior Exhibits. All animals must be halter broken. All entries must be made by the
CEA’s and AST’s with one check for entry fees drawn on an account of the 4-H Club or FFA Chapter and made payable to the
Piney Woods Fair.
SIFTING COMMITTEE: All animals must pass the
sifting committee. Sifting committee includes Agriculture Division Chairman
and Individual Show Committee.
HERDSMANSHIP AWARD: Herdsmanship awards outlined
in individual shows.
HOUSEKEEPING:
All exhibitors will be required to keep their stalls or pens in a clean condition
by placing litter and trash in barrels and manure in designated areas at the end of each building.
Bedding is on shavings only. Shavings will be purchased from the Expo Center only. All animals must be properly fed, watered
and taken care of or exhibitor will be subject to dismissal from the show.
PRIZE MONEY: All prize money, excluding premium or resale checks, will be paid immediately
following show.
PREMIUM SALES:
No exhibitor may sale more than two market lots in the Premium Sale. These
lots should be selected by the student at the conclusion of the Barrow Show. (The following entry will
move up one place). Each division will sell the same percent of market lots (rounded to the nearest tenth) - unless identified
differently in division show rules. The number of animals/pens (lots) to be sold in the market sale will be reached by taking
the total animals/pens to sell divided by the market entries shown.
BEHAVIOR: The management reserves the right to remove from the grounds any person
whose actions are unsuitable or objectionable.
SUBSTITUTIONS: If the student is not eligible, the market entry may be shown by a substitute
if: a) exhibitor is academically ineligible b) exhibitor is placed in alternative placement (AEP or ISS) c) exhibitor
is incapable of participating due to health reasons d) conflict with school approved activities. If the exhibitor does not meet these
criteria the entry cannot be shown. (Example, expulsion from school). Substitutions must meet
with approval of the individual Market Show Committee and declared when the
entry is weighed in at the show unless circumstances arise after weigh
in. The substitute: a) must be a 4-H, FFA or FCCLA member who attends the same school district, club or chapter b) cannot
have an entry in that Market Show c) may only substitute for one entry d) is not eligible to participate in that shows showmanship
class.
DRUG RESIDUE RULES: Grand & Reserve plus 10% of the remining animals in each species that are eligible for the sale, may be randomly picked to be tested. Animals may be tested immediately following selection for the Premium Sale. Exhibitor and a family representative must remain with the animal until test is complete. The exhibitor and parent/guardian certify that they will not administer an entry with any substance not approved by the FDA and/or USDA for that species. The entry is not, not will it be, within any withdrawl time relative to the administration of any drug, chemical or feed additive approved by the FDA and/or USDA by the time animal(s) is officially weighed in at the show. If the animal requires emergency treatment while on the show grounds, only a licensed veterinarian with the prior approval of the Piney Woods Fair & Livestock Show Committee will be allowed to administor a drug, chemical or feed additive. All treatment cost are the responsibility of the Exhibitor.
PROTEST RULE: If an exhibitor (or their parent) wishes to lodge a protest concerning
a show, that protest must be made in writing within 14 days of said show and must be accompanied by a check for $150.00 protest
fee. If the protest is upheld, $100.00 of that fee will be refunded to the protesting party with $50.00 going to the association
for paper work and legal fees.
