Rules & Regulations
1.) All products must be in clean, polished
STANDARD MASON glass jars and have been canned within
the last
twelve (12) months. Lids must be scaled and free from rust and corrosion.
2.) Jars must be clearly labeled with the
name of the product and exhibitor’s name and address before
they are accepted.
3.) All work must be done by the exhibitor.
4.) Three (3) entries may be made in each category
by each exhibitor.
CATEGORIES:
1.) Vegetables - each variety will be judged separately.
2.) Fruits - each variety will be judged separately.
3.) Jams, Jellies, Preserves
4.) Pickles, Relishes
5.) Salsa
AWARDS:
1.) Blue, Red & White Ribbons will be awarded
in each division in each category. Items not meeting all
qualifications will be
awarded a green participation ribbon.
2.) Top winners receive special awards from Ball
or Kerr.
3.) The youth & adult accumulating the most
points in their division shall be awarded a Sweepstakes
Rosette. In case of a
tie, judges will make the final decision.
Special Adult Awards:
**Best of Category:
Pickled Food Award
Special awards for the best pickled fruit
or vegetable exhibit prepared in Heinz Vinegar and
canned in a Ball jar with a Ball Lid or
Kerr Jar or Kerr Lid.
**Best of Category
Soft Spreads Award
Special awards for the soft spread prepared
using Ball 100% natural Fruit Jell Pectin
submitted in a Ball Jar with a Ball Lid
or in a Kerr Jar with Kerr Lid.
NOTE: The UPS from the
Fruit Jell package must accompany the product.
POINT SYSTEM FOR SWEEPSTAKES ROSETTES:
Ribbons: Blue - 3 points; Red - 2 points; White - 1 point
Best of Category Awards - 2 points additional
