should include answers to the following questions?

  1)   Why do you need this scholarship?

  2)   What are your goals upon completing your education?

Complete and sign this application form. Attach your essay and a non-returnable picture of yourself to the application

and submit by 4 p.m. CDT on the due date. Please use a clean sheet of 8-1/2 by 11 inch paper for your essay. All

applications and attachments become the property of the Scholarship Committee. All applications will be scored on a

point system devised and approved by the Xi Alpha Omicron Sorority. The Scholarship Committee will rely solely on

the information provided by the applicant on this form and in his/her essay. If you have any questions, contact your

AG teacher, school counselor or call the Expo Office at (936) 564-0849. One scholarship will be awarded to a qualified

applicant from each public high school in Nacogdoches County this year. The amount of the scholarships will be set

by the Xi Alpha Omicron Sorority, and all scholarships in any one year will be of the same amount. Determination of

amount depends on sponsorship monies received for program that year.

THE RODEO SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM GUIDELINES

In conjunction with Xi Alpha Omicron Sorority

• The name of this scholarship shall be the “The Rodeo Scholarship” (hereinafter referred to as The Scholarship)
• The Scholarship shall be available to ANY graduating senior of a public or private high school in Nacogdoches County who meets the

           qualifications. It is the intention of the Xi Alpha Omicron Sorority to provide a minimum of one (1) scholarship to a graduating

           of the eight (8) senior at each high schools in Nacogdoches County.

• A student may apply for The Scholarship only one time.
• Each applicant must meet all eligibility requirements at the time application is made. An application must be completed and turned in to the Nacogdoches Expo Office by February 28, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. of the applicant’s senior year.
• The Scholarship may be awarded to attend a public or private college or university, certified technical or training school (such as TSTI),

           or specialized training school (such as a fire or police academy).

• Members of the Xi Alpha Omicron Sorority shall appoint a sub-committee to be called the Scholarship Committee.

* (To ensure privacy and to deter any possibility of tampering with or influencing the Scholarship Committee , the names of those chosen to the

    committee shall remain private, and shall not be considered public information.

* The Scholarship Committee shall oversee the selection of all scholarship applicants.

• Any additional scholarships , military payments, etc. expected to be received by an applicant will be considered when deciding the
• eligibility and need of each applicant.
• Decisions regarding awarded scholarships will rest solely with the Scholarship Committee, with final approval of the Xi Alpha Omicron Sorority.
• Members of the Scholarship Committee shall not discriminate against any applicant because of race, religion, color, gender or ethnic origin.
• Payment of all scholarship monies shall be in the form of a check made payable to the applicant and his/her parent or legal guardian . Prove of acceptance and enrollment to a public or private college or university, certified technical or training school (such as TSTI),

          or specialized training school (such as a fire or police academy) will be required before the student’s check will be distributed.

         These items of prove should be mailed to Attn: Rodeo Scholarship Committee 3805 NW Stallings Drive , Nacogdoches , Texas 75964 .

• Any attempt of the applicant or a member of his/her family to unduly influence the decision of the Scholarship Committee shall result in immediate disqualification of the applicant.
• Recipients of any scholarship from the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo shall be ineligible to receive this scholarship.
• If an applicant feels that he/she was not treated fairly in the selection process, the applicant may appeal the decision by formally sending a written compliant to the Nacogdoches Expo within 10 days of the final selection. This grievance will be given to the Xi Alpha Omicron Sorority for a

          decision on the appeal within 10 days of their receipt. The decision of the Xi Alpha Omicron Sorority will be final.

NOTE: KNOWINGLY FURNISHING FALSE INFORMATION TO OBTAIN THIS SCHOLARSHIP WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION.
